It’s been recently confirmed that Star Wars: The Old Republic will not support macros at the launch of the game. Many players were understandably frustrated with that decision, myself included, as being able to automate certain spell rotations is very helpful in any MMORPG.
Bioware however decided that macros system will be implemented later on in the game. We don’t know any other details at this point, but you can be sure this site will bring any related news as they come.
Until then, there aren’t many ways how you can automate anything in The Old Republic. Using any kind of third party software to simulate keystrokes and similar is most certainly against the terms of use and it’s likely your account may be banned for using such methods. The only “legal” way currently is to obtain Razer SWTOR hardware: the mouse and the keyboard come with several predefined buttons performing a variety of functions.
The biggest downside to this is obviously the extreme costs: $250 for the keyboard and $140 for the mouse. That’s nearly $400 worth of peripherals, just to be able to quickly cast a few spells. Whether it’s worth it or not is up to you.
